I was in either a class or a production job and was given the randomized assignment of making a production (contextless) of a mermaid who was rising up and trying to get out of the lower ranks of their caste to become something bigger and better and to also revolt against the caste system altogether. At this phase in the dream, I think I had already had this assignment waiting for me for some time and I was thinking that I had all of the info I needed mentally but hadn't spent the time actually preparing for it.
